UCSF is hiring multiple research assistants for BEEM.   This is an opportunity to learn about research and work on a study seeking to address economic and health inequities through guaranteed income for young, Black adults (18-24) in parts of San Francisco and Oakland.

Based at UCSF, the research assistant will recruit study participants; explain study procedures and answer questions; screen participants for eligibility; consent participants; collect study data; and communicate with participants.  The research assistants will also join the team of investigators and staff, with opportunities to share their ideas on research procedures and contribute to study findings. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the study recruitment process by making presentations (in person and virtual) and conducting community outreach at community agencies and events

  • Managing the study screening process

  • Responding including responding to messages and phone calls with questions about the study

  • Corresponding with prospective participants about whether or not they qualify for the study

  • Managing the study enrollment process, including walking study participants through an informed consent process and answering any questions they have about the study

  • Attending study meetings and offering input on study design and planning

  • Entering data into our study management and data capture system

  • Scheduling follow-up study visits and sending reminders to participants

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

  • Minimum 2+ years of related experience

  • Familiarity and comfort working with young adults, communities of color, low-income communities

  • Familiarity and comfort working with non-profit community agencies who serve low-income youth

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Good ethical and interpersonal judgment
